EXCLUSIVE: Names Of Murang'a Tycoon MCAs Lobbying For Majority Leader Post

The race for the County Assembly majority leader in Murang’a County Assembly has kicked off attracting who is in terms of kifeeti that is seriously needed to pocket the poor MCAs who are said to be grappling with financial challenges after the general election.

 Most of the leaders who have declared interest

for the positions are said to be well off, with businesses and vast connection enough to get them financial assistance to assist them in a bruising battle with their opponents.

KK Online News has established that the seat for the majority leader and the Deputy Speaker will automatically go to Murang’a South in bid to provide regional balancing for the county leadership since Governor Mwangi wa Iria Senator Irungu Kangata and Sabina Chege hail from Murang’a North. The seat has attracted four Members of County Assembly named Eric Kamande from Kahumbu Ward in Kigumo Constituency, two MCAs from Maragua ie Charles Mwangi Ng’ang’a and Kimorori Ward MCA Amos Murigi and Kagunduini Ward MCA Peter Muthoni from Kandara Constituency.

According to our analysis, Mr Muthoni popularly known as Wamsoo chances is very slim given that he comes from the Constituency that has produced Murang’a County Deputy Governor Maina Kamau.

Mr Kamande from Kahumbu is also facing difficulties in clinching the much coveted seat after the Constituency produced five Nominated MCAs. Critics say no other seat should go to Kigumo. Although the lucky Kamande, serving his second term after narrowly escaping Wanjiku’s fury that saw 31 out of 35 MCAs sent packing, is a close ally of Governor Mwangi wa Iria its not clear whether he will convince MCAs to consider him given that it is in Kigumo that Maendeleo Chap Chap has produced an MCA despite the County being a Jubilee dominant county.

We are now left with Mr Charles Ng’ang’a and Amos Murigi. While Ng’ang’a alias Ichagaki One represent Ichagaki Ward, his colleague Mr Murigi represents Kimorori Wempa the same Ward Speaker Nduati Kariuki comes from. If this is one of the factors that will be considered then Mr Murigi a teacher by profession is not lucky.

Mr Ichagaki One one might be an ideal candidate that is if Governor Mwangi wa Iria will not interfere with the exercise.

According to one of the nominated MCAs, the battle for the position is between Mr Ichagaki One and Mr Kamande.

“While Kamande enjoys the support of the 18 nominated MCAs aligned to Governor Mwangi wa Iria while Ichagaki One enjoys the support from the elected MCAs"   

KK Online has established that only Jacintah Ng'ang'a from Township Ward [Murang'a North] has declared interest for the Deputy Majority Leader.position. 

Her Mbiri Ward colleague Duncan Muturi has expressed interest to deputize the Speaker who hail from Kimorori Wempa Ward.
