Moses Kuria speaks says he hid to avoid being arrested

By Moses Kuria

My great people of the Kenya land and Nation.  I am safe and sound.  I have not been abducted. And, again, I am safe. I am overwhelmed by the outpouring of your love, your concern and solidarity

On Wednesday 7th May 2020, Kariobangi North MCA Hon Maina Njoka tried to offer help to the people of Kariobangi Sewage Village who had their houses demolished in the most barbaric manner.

Hon Njoka was arrested and held overnight at Pangani Police station, despite the DCIO Pangani assuring me personally that he would be released. Hon Njoka was only freed by a makeshift court at Kasarani stadium on Thursday  8th May 2020 at 5pm after laughable and flimsy charges.

The objective of Hon Njoka's incarceration was to discourage anyone from standing with the suffering people of Kariobangi Sewage and Korogocho Market

My great people of the Kenya land and Nation.  I am safe and sound.  I have not been abducted. And, again, I am safe. I am overwhelmed by the outpouring of your love, your concern and solidarity

On Wednesday 6th May 2020, Kariobangi North MCA Hon Maina Njoka tried to offer help to the people of Kariobangi Sewage Village who had their houses demolished in the most barbaric manner.

Hon Njoka was arrested and held overnight at Pangani Police station, despite the DCIO Pangani assuring me personally that he would be released. Hon Njoka was only freed by a makeshift court at Kasarani stadium on Thursday  7th May 2020 at 5pm after laughable and flimsy charges.

The objective of Hon Njoka's incarceration was to discourage anyone from standing with the suffering people of Kariobangi Sewage and Korogocho Market

On Friday, 8th May 2020, Ndindi Nyoro and myself decided to accompany Hon Maina Njoka to fulfill his desire to stand by the people who voted for him. As responsible leaders, we first presented to Kariobangi Police Station whereby we explained to the OCS and the Deputy OCS our mission and assured them that we have no ulterior motive other than to stand with our people.

We then proceeded to Sewage Village and the adjacent Korogocho Market which had by then cut off by way of digging a deep trench around it to deny traders access thus putting the lives of tens of thousands who depend on food from the market at risk.  The demolitions at KariobangiSewage Village are heart wrenching to say the least. Women and children are spending days and nights in the cold. They have no money. They have no food. Rains are mercilessly pounding on them. They were told by their government to stay indoors due to the Corona Virus yet the same government demolishes the same houses they were asked to stay in. And to make matters worse the same government stops wellwishers and leaders from assisting them.

All the same, we devised ways and managed to address the people of Kariobangi Sewage and Korogocho market. We carefully listened to their cries and tears and promised to engage the government on these inhumane and barbaric actions against people who largely voted for the Jubilee government (Not that it matters, they are human beings to say the least)

Upon leaving the market, we retreated to Homeland inn along Thika Road for a brief meeting. It is at that point that I got information from very reliable sources that a very senior person had ordered for my arrest for daring to go to Korogocho. The police leadership at Kariobangi was also under severe pressure and intimidation as to why they had not arrested me. As I left Homeland inn I was followed by 3 vehicles and had to use all sorts of deviations and tactics to dodge them. The objective was clearly to arrest me and hold me throughout the weekend or even worse to detain me in a quarantine facility. I was determined not to let this happen as I had done no wrong other than to stand with suffering people. More so, I would not do so without my personal doctor given what happened to Ken Matiba. The other objective was also to send a message to the so called political class not to stand with the people at their hour of need. I have been used before as a guinea pig to send a message to the opposition, the political class . I was arrested and charged in 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 to facilitate arrests of opposition leaders. I had to battle those charges in court before I was acquitted of all of them But. But still,  I am not a guinea pig. I am a human being. I am a husband, a father, a leader, a brother and a son to my dear mother who gets depressed when her son is arrested and charged only to send a message to others. I am very sure if the United Nations demand that a Kenyan be offered to test the Corona Virus vaccine, the Kenya government will offer Moses Kuria as the guinea pig to test the vaccine

To the people of Korogocho and Kariobangi village, you shall not walk alone. I will be back with my colleagues and other well wishers to stand with you

And to you my people. Stay safe. And be vigilant. We have rights. And we shall never give in to tyranny

God Bless Kenya

Senator Kangata feeds the poor during Covid-19 period

By Allan Wanjiku
Senator Irungu Kangata. He has started the County roundup to ensure the hungry gets food.

Muranga Senator Irungu Kangata has once again redefined the meaning of a leader through his extension of philanthropic deeds especially from the poor.

Although Senators do not have a fund like MPs, Women Representatives and Governors, the Senator has never used that fact to stay away from the ordinary people, he has been getting out of his way to cough his salary and mobilising funds from his friends to help the poor.

The Senator has started criss crossing the county in bid to feed the poor a mission that started at Gatanga, Mathioya and Kiharu Constituencies.

Next week, he will be moving to Kigumo and then Maragua, Kandara and Kangema Constituencies.

Residents have been benefitting with bars of soap, cabbages, unga, and avocado tree seedlings as a long term solutions in the fight against hunger.

The Senator believes, a leader is known and recognized during hard times and has called other leaders to ensure that they also help the electorates by feeding them as they continue adhering to government's directive of staying home as the fight against Covid-19, is intensified.

The Senator who has joined hands with renowned lawyer Edward Muriu of Gatanga Constituency and Gatanga Member of County Assembly Nahashon Gachuhi. The team has vowed to use their resources and influence to ensure that no person from Muranga County die of hunger.

Locals from Githambo, Kiharu receive avocado seedlings from Senator Irungu Kangata.

"The best of leaders are realized in moments of crisis. As we tackle the challenges of the Corona Virus Pandemic, this is should be the time we should all strive to be leaders in our own right," The Senator told KK Online News.

On Saturday, the team halted their schedule and spent their day at Githambo tea factory where they fed the hungry and called on leaders and business class to ensure that they participate in helping the needy.

"Tea farmers have been affected by the pandemic because the curfew has interfered with their schedule of plucking tea and this will have adverse effects on their produce and then the payments, that's why we remembered them by bringing them food items," Mr Kangata said.

On his part Wakili Muriu called on those who can afford to sponsor something to the poor to ensure they don't sleep hungry.

He noted that some people who depend on casual labour have been dealt a major blow after government ordered for the closure of bars, hotels and other institutions where they earn a living.

" Now is the time for those of us in the business and political world to marshal ourselves and provide the poor with food. A thriving County and Country is a product of concerted efforts by all of us to wade through the murky waters of this pandemic," Mr Muriu noted.

Mr Gachuhi said no Kenyan should suffer during this period while leaders have what it takes to feed them and thanked the Senator for mobilising them for a noble course.

"Senator Irungu Kangata has done a wonderful thing, he continues to mobilize leaders and well wishers to ensure that Muranga people do not go hungry, if only other leaders could follow suit, we would not only be safe from hunger but free from Coronavirus since the vulnarabe could stay at home to avoid contracting the deadly virus," he noted.

The Senator has also on the past been coordinating and arranging for the free medical camps and the latest had to be called off due following the Ministry of Health directives on shunning public gatherings.

Welcome to Kiharu Constituency where Public Primary and Day Schools are attractive than Private Schools

By Simon Kahara

The newly constructed Chief's office under the patronage of Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro. 51 projects ongoing with the MP maintaining that all will be through before the schools reopen.

When Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro was seeking an elective position in his entry into the world of murky politics, he promised his electorates that he would ensure that he tiles public Primary and Day Schools, many thought it was just a political rhetoric like any other given to electorates during the campaign period.
However, immediately getting into office, the MP got down to work and the renovation of schools started, as we pen down this story, 51 projects are underway, while 8 administration offices being done, a new Administration Police line being constructed from scratch while many others are being renovated.
Other than the schools, chief’s camps halls and laboratories have not been left out, here are some of the projects:
Gaitega Chief's Office, Matharite Chief's Office, Theri Chief's Office, Gikindu ACC Office at Kambirwa, Kahatia Chief's Office, Gikandu Chief's office at Kiawambeu, Njoguini Chief's Office  - Almost starting, Mugeka AP line, Kiria Chief's Office which is complete.

The MP says some schools like Mirichu Primary schools were in a worse state as they had no doors and windows but he is determined to have them tiled and upgrade.
“This is a promise I made to my people and I want to assure them that we shall have finished doing the projects by 2022,” the MP told KK online News.
Most of the schools in his Constituency have electricity and this has motivated pupils from poor backgrounds to feel equal with those in private schools.
The move has played well into the physiology of pupils and this has greatly improved their performance.

“I had the idea of bridging the gap between the children from the able backgrounds and those from poor backgrounds, they now go the schools in the same standards or even better than those in private, neat tiled and renovated and this has contributed to good performance,” he says.

KENYA’S BORROWING APPETITE WILL LEAD TO COUNTRY BEING RESTRICTED IN INTERNATIONAL MARKETS- FINANCIAL EXPERT

By Simon Kahara

Finance expert and the chairperson at Political Parties Liaison Committee Irungu Nyakera at a past function. He has warned that the country's huge debts will son land the country into restriction in international markets.

Kenya’s Financial expert Irungu Nyakera has warned that Kenya’s ballooning debt risks the country for being restricted in international markets a move that will lead to an economic crisis.
Mr Nyakera, a banker who have worked as the Managing Director of Equity Bank’s Investments wing and a man with vast experience on economy and banking sector raised concerns after the global rating firm Moody’s downgraded Kenya’s sovereign credit outlook from B2 moderate to B2 negative.
In its periodic review the global rating firm raised concern over the country's very low fiscal strength, ballooning debt and runaway corruption due to weak rule of law.
It added that the government's debt burden and poor revenue collection performance; and susceptibility to event risk predominantly stemming from government liquidity risk piles pressure on the country’s ratings.

Mr Nyakera while describing the news as the worst for the country’s economy, said the ratings by the firm was by far worse than Coronavirus.
In my opinion, the worst news for our economy right now is not even Coronavirus, it’s that yesterday Moody’s downgraded our sovereign credit rating outlook from B2 “moderate” to B2 “negative.
He says the main trigger behind the revision is the rising financing risks posed by Kenya's large gross borrowing requirements at a time when the fiscal outlook is taking a nosedive due to both lower tax collections and an unsustainable debt structure.
This could mean a whole lot of negative eventualities for our economy including restriction to international markets for more debt that could easily and irreversibly expose Kenya's fiscal metrics to exchange rate and interest rate shocks.
Mr Nyakera further warns that even as the country keep escalating spending on non-essential infrastructure and government bureaucracies and failing to put breaks on our exaggerated borrowing, the country faces a default situation and then an economic crisis, prolonged economic slump which will then lead to a recession and then a depression.
He wonders whether leaders and the Treasury are aware of the situation and wonders what they are doing about it.
Are our leaders and treasury pundits and mandarins reading these “all-too-obvious” signs,” Mr Nyakera says.

Is Daily Nation's Senior Editor John Kamau at war with Governor Mwangi Wa Iria?

Mr John Kamau, Daily Nation Senior Editor. He has denied allegations that he is fighting Muranga Governor Mwangi Wa Iria's newly constructed ICU facility.

By Allan Wanjiku

Nation Media Group's senior editor John Kamau is on a warpath with Muranga Governor Mwangi Wa Iria over reasons only better known to him.

Multiple reports by correspondents from the Nation Media Group indicate that Mr Kamau has allegedly been using his influence as a senior editor to block Muranga ICU stories from being published by the Nation.

Mr Kamau frantically tried to stop a story detailing about the completion of the ICU but he could not offer the reasons for his decision a move that shows how he is trying to ensure no story by the governor finds its way to Daily Nation.

According to the sources, Mr Kamau, the quality officer has also been gagging some journalists based on their social media post and at one time, he went direct to the correspondent's inbox and accused him of praising the governor and demanded whether he could explain how much was used to construct the ICU.

He also hard pressed him to explain whether he had engaged with professionals over the quality of equipment at the facility and when a positive answer was given, Mr Kamau was never satisfied, he claimed those asked could never give an accurate answer as they were under Governor Mwangi Wa Iria.

On April 24, Mr Kamau took to his Twitter account to discredit the construction of the ICU and posted a photo of the unfinished building claiming that the county could have designed a better ICU and wondered the whereabouts of the County engineers.

The post by John Kamau in his Twitter handle on a photo of unfinished ICU building in Muranga.

This is a move that could arouse his followers' emotions and incite them against the facility which was not nearly complete.

A source told KK Online News that threats and intimidations forced Nation Media Group not to publish the ICU's dedication ceremony which was graced by Archbishop and a host of bishops after senior editors accused regional scribes of being pocketed by the governor.

Mr Kamau is a senior reporter who, interestingly comes from Muranga and more interestingly, from Murarandia village a village that neighbours Mugoiri where Governor Mwangi Wa Iria and Water PS Joseph Irungu Wairagu comes from.

Mr Kamau's sources of news, based on stories he writes, rages from Mr Wairagu, DCI George Kinoti and Interior Cs Fred Matiang'i.

It is understood that Mr Wairagu has been embroiled in a frosty working relationship with Muranga Governor with their bad blood playing public in Muranga water woes.

While Mr Wairagu has declared interests to vie for gubernatorial post in 2022, the governor has declared that he will have a say on who to succeed him and has also registered a political party, a move that has rubbed some powerful people in government in a wrong way.

Some forces are said to be in a move to tame the governor whose political star is rising on daily basis and spreading like the bush fire.

Motivated to doing a balanced and a fair story, KK Online News reached out to Mr Kamau who denied all the allegations and claimed he was not in a smear campaign against the ICU.

"No, I have not been against the ICU, no not me," he said on a phone interview.

When asked about his Twitter post and alleged intimidations to journalists, Mr Kamau also known as JK hanged up the phone interview.

Our team sent him this message. "Hi Sir, Allan here again from KK Online News, you hanged up before responding to the issue of your post in Twitter about the ICU and the journalists intimidations on the same issue," a message that has not been responded when we were publishing this article
