FURY: Murang'a Residents Criticize Uhuru's Tour

The tour of President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William  Ruto in Muranga  today has been largely criticized by Muranga residents who have described it as 'unsuccessful'

According to Kamau, a Murang'a resident, they expected President Uhuru Kenyatta to come with goodies the way he has been doing during his tour to other Counties in the country.

'I'm shocked that the President told us what we already know, water projects, Infrastructural development and coffee waiver something he did along time ago,' Kamau told KK online News.

On her part Irene Njeri a coffee farmer from Maragua Constituency said that she was highly expectant that the Head of State would address the wider problems facing Murang'a County.

'I understand that Uhuru has during his tenure as President bailed out the ailing coffee sector but the money had been allocated during the Grand Coalition Government that was headed by Mwai Kibaki as President and Raila Odinga as the Prime Minister. I would have been grateful to hear him explain his efforts in addressing other sectors",a frustrated Njeri told KK online News.

However,  the President pledged to assist  the Integrated Displaced Persons in the county. He also outlined the money injected by his government in health and in the road sectors in the region.

The residents who spoke to KK Online News said that the President had been giving goodies to other Counties but that was not the case to Murang'a County.

On his part Uhuru said that Jubilee government had alot in Muranga County.

"We started the water project where we hope that every homestead will access clean drinking water and water for irrigation, you also remember that we have developed Murang'a County in terms of Infrastructure,'  The President said.

Another area where residents feel they have been let down is on President's itinerary  on the areas he was scheduled  to visit.

Uhuru and his deputy were scheduled to start his tour at the Blue Post Hotel within Gatanga then proceed  and make  stopovers atJogoo, Mabanda, Kiunyu, Kahaini, Kabati, Kenol, Kagunduini, Karega, Muthithi, Maragua, Mukuyu,Kahuro, Kangema, Kiriaini, Kamacharia,Mugeka and then address a major rally at the historica Ihura Stadium in Muranga town.

However, Uhuru and his Deputy William Ruto's tour largely covered the areas of Muranga South region -Gatanga, Kandara, Kigumo and Maragua.

In Muranga North region Uhuru only visited Mukuyu and muranga town that are in Kiharu constituency.

He did cover  Kiharu's as per the itinerary as Kahuro  town that the next destination  after Mukuyu was left out.

He ended his tour at Ihura Stadium past 6pm and did not visit Mathioya constituency and Kangema Constituencies despite huge crowds  waiting the whole day to receive and see him.

The  bitter and dejected residents accuse the President and his handlers of sidelining them in his tour.

Ironically, he arrived at Blue Post at 1152hrs contrary to the plan where he was expected at 800hrs.

However, Uhuru apologized for not making it to those areas due to time constraints with a promise to visit them soon. He ended by sending Murang'a  Women Rep Sabina Chege to pass his apologies to them.
