“Effective leaders
believe individuals, organizations and even nations possess undiscovered talent
and untapped resources; they have strong convictions about their
missions,visions and value.” {Paul B Thornton}
The above quote couldn’t
come at a better time than this. The political euphoria is sweeping across our
beloved country. In less than a month, Kenyans will vote- in their leaders of
choice. The political powers are
mouthwatering hence many people, both eligible and not are doing their best to capture the powerful seats. My concern is; Does ‘Wanjiku’ has any knowledge of the aspiring Leaders? Then, if the knowledge is there, has it been influenced by development value or monetary value?

For now, allow me to
narrow down to Murang’a county, specifically, Kiharu constituency.
I am a resident in
Kiharu hence I am well conversant with issues affecting the constituents. We
have had leaders in the past, eg Kenneth Matiba, Ngenye Kariuki etc and
recently Kembi Gitura and the incumbent Irungu Kang’ata currently eyeing a
higher seat. Each leader has left a legacy. Whether positive or negative, that
is a story of another day.
Since the incumbent is
not contesting to retain his seat, Kiharu constituency has new names in the
August ballot paper.
Today, let us focus on Karanja
Mburu widely known as Wamatangi, who is a new entrant in the political field. We
won’t focus on his Bio Data for today but his development record.
Wamatangi is a
passionate man who has a heart to reach out to the less fortunate in the
society going back long before his political ambitions arose. He has
connections that has helped him join hands and uplift the lives of the
residents. He has helped construct Mega Water Tanks across Kiharu to ease the
ever existing Water problem. Primary schools have been beneficiaries in this
noble project thus in the process uplifting the education sector.
He has also been
involved in humanitarian acts, eg, jigger eradication projects, helping the
elderly and reaching out to the most in need. He has also been known to
interact with people from all walks of life. Many have hailed his humility.
Well, his opponents can
borrow a leaf from Wamatangi since they are coming with an empty basket development
wise. I think he is a leader we can entrust with our future!!!!!
‘Wamatangi,in
my view,is a Leader who lifts our eyes from present practicalities to Future
possibilities.’
