FRIENDS TURNED FOES: Peter Munga Fights Back Over Wa Iria's Demands

War Councils seem to take root between Governor Mwangi wa Iria and Equity Bank's Chair Mr Peter Munga.

A week earlier, Governor Mwangi wa Iria had offered himself to deal with Munga over hiking of Water Tarrifs by Muranga water and sanitation company vowing to fight on behalf of suffering residents who depend on water from MUWASCO.

Wa Iria had even called a stakeholders meeting at Ihura Stadium today and had instructed Munga to avail himself without failure and apologies.

It remains unclear why the scheduled meeting was called off even after majority of Muranga town residents waited for it with zeal and hopes.

MUWASCO Board Members met yesterday to chat the way forward over the case.

A source within Muwasco offices told KK online News that the Board resolved that the only way they could lower the water Tarrifs was for the County Government to chip in and offer support to the huge loan accumulated by the Water Services provider

A day after the Board converged in MUWASCO offices, Kenya National Chamber Of Commerce And Industry Murang'a Branch has came out fast and furious to Condemn and denouncing what they termed as 'Unfair Attack' to one of their own Mr. Peter Munga.

The Business Community believe Wa Iria has got no issue of water Tarrifs but is just getting an avenue to attack Munga who they say has contributed immensely to the growth of Muranga County through his Industries.

There are speculations that It is Munga who is financially supporting the candidature of Doctor Moses who is his immediate employee.

Led by their Chairman Mr.  Peter Kiguta Kamau, the board has said that 'It must be clearly understood and appreciated by the same aspirants that our members have a Democratic right to support for election whoever is the candidate of their choice.

Furious Kiguta told Murang'a press men that the Governor's statement as articulated by Daily Nation of 7th of June 2017 was not only threatening Munga but could also scare away investors who would want to invest in Muranga County.

"Harassing Business tycoons like Peter Munga who the County can only rely on to attract investors is very dangerous to the economy of our County," Kiguta said.

Wa Iria is also said to be a former employee of Peter Munga soon after he stopped working at Kenya Creameries Company.

There had been attempts by Gatundu South law maker Hon Moses Kuria to mend the fences for the two leaders and the Two promised to work together for the betterment of Muranga County.

On June 25th 2015 the two leaders agreed to bury the hatchet

Munga had these to say.

“Wairia is not an easy man to work with but he has strong principles that cannot be bent. That is one thing I have always liked about him,” he said.

Wairia said: “I am also requesting Munga to support me politically because I know his endorsement would go a long way in propelling me to a second term.
