Endorsement to Prestigious Houses

The battle for the prestigious National assembly and the senate Speakers' post will go down tomorrow as the members of both houses are expected to convene for the first time after the General election held earlier this month.
This is despite the fact that there is a pending case in court
contesting the presidential results fronted by the Opposition coalition. The President elect Uhuru Kenyatta called both houses amidst grumbling from the NASA coalition that felt the President should have waited for the Supreme Court verdict due this Friday.

The first house business is to elect the speaker who then proceeds to foresee the deputy speaker election. As expected, the seats have attracted political heavyweights and new political entrants as well.
The National assembly post had attracted a group of lawmakers but only three made the final cut after they met the requirements. Justin Muturi is set to defend his seat against little known Dr Noah Migundo and Mr Washington Onyango. The endorsement earlier today of Muturi by the president elect gives him an edge over other contestants.

Those who wanted to deputise the speaker were the likes of Kimani Wamatangi,Johnson Sakaja,Irungu Kangata and Susan Kihika.
The president might have shattered some dreams as he openly gave out his desired list.

National assembly
Speaker - Justin Muturi
Deputy   - Moses Cheboi
Majority leader  - Aden Duale
  Deputy  - Jimmy Angwenyi
Chief Whip - Benjamin Washiali
Deputy whip - Cecily Mbarire
                                                                SENATE
Speaker   - Ken Lusaka
Deputy   - Kindiki Kithure
Majority leader  - Kipchumba Murkomen
Deputy   - Fatuma Dulo
Chief whip - Susan Kihika
Deputy chief whip  - Irungu Kangata

Irungu Kangata will settle for Deputy Chief Whip, away from the deputy speaker's seat that he desired. It will be remembered that the deputy speakers seat was occupied by former muranga senator Kembi Gitura who lost to the youthful Irungu Kangata.
Jubilee legislators are set to have a smooth ride in both houses as they enjoy the tyranny of numbers power.
For Muranga residents, deputy chief whip seat will do for now.
