Exclusive: Why Wa Iria Mutua Sonko Joho Targeted by National Integrity Alliance

Moments after an umbrella body for NGOS, National Integrity Alliance, announced what they called 'RedCards' for some Aspirants with an intention of barring them to contest their election and reelection bid, Kenyans have given their mixed reaction on these Non Governmental Organisations

A source close to NGO Operations in Nairobi had these to say.

"Transparency international world over is funded by special interest groups among them business men who lobby for government deals Kenya is no exception

Kenya chapter of transparency international is no exception as for years it has been on payroll of wealthy businessmen during Nyayo,Kibaki and Now Uhuru Government"

Talking exclusively on KK online News a source says that since inception of devolution the bodies have now shifted to Counties not to fight corruption but for their own interests. "Counties have become a very major areas of investment especially with struggle for natural resources" he paused.

PARTNERING WITH VESTED INTERESTS GROUPS

Our source who spoke to us on condition of anonymity for fear of victimization believe that these Ngos have been approached by various special interest group's to start a bismerching campaigns against leaders who are seen to be stumbling block to exploration and exploitation of this resources.

"Example is Machakos which has billions of tonnes of Coal That can be used to generate power.

Kitui Coal Basin in Mui where investors are struggling to get coal to feed various coal installations projected for development

Mombasa has trillions of cubic natural gas and billions of fossil fuels underneath Indian Ocean

Murang'a county with nearly capacity to produce more than 1000 Megawatts in hydro energy, ithanga and Kakuzi hills with capacity to generate thousands of wind energy of megawatts

Other Counties are Homa bay due to Wealth in the Lake Victoria Marine wealth"

He believes that Investors are on war with Governors who are not pro business by using NGOs against wishes of residents by tainting them corrupt.

It is in light of the above that he says these groups  in various country have either been arrested, deported or declared persona non grata for subversive activities.

On her part Judy Waitherero, A Governance and Policy expert wondered where the group have been for the last 4 years alluding that the group could be seeking relevance and existence.

She also questioned the seriousness of these groups for not focusing on all levels of society, "We recently had about Gecaga and Muhoho without mentioning the case that Deputy President William Ruto had with an Uasin Gishu resident for land grabbing why aren't they yelling about them?

These guys know that in Kenya, deliberations on matters with a legal angle take time. they were aware in 2014 that elections will be held in 2017/2018. why did they wait to contact the IEBC and even the Political parties to recommend that those candidates would not feature in the Nominations?" Judy said.

John Maina a politician read malice in the announcement of the National Integrity Alliance. "They present a list that 'was informed by reports from credible institutions and we have looked at the cases that are active in court' unfortunately, many of the issues reported as justifying inclusion on the list, are NOT active in court. are these activists on a mission to tarnish the good names of select individuals?  we note that most these leading "activists" are paid directly or indirectly by foreigners and they primarily belong to a certain tribe. and it is,said that in kenya, politics is tribal at times, reports from "credible institutions" are (subjectively) found to be wanting."

Kiprotich Kirwa told KK online News that What the Alliance was doing was an exercise in futility. "Chapter six is very clear, unless you have been convicted of a crime and have exhausted all avenues for appeal you cannot be barred from running for office. This is a very high threshold and rightfully so, to ensure that one's political aspirations are not thwarted by frivolous and malicious allegations and lawsuits. If we are to have people of integrity in office, the voters have to reject people with questions on their integrity. Using the courts to bar aspirants will not work"
He said.

The Alliance body has recommended to IEBC to reject the following candidates.
Evans Kidero Nrb Governor
Mike Sonko foe Nrb Governor
Baba Yao Waititu For Kiambu Governor
Mwangi wa Iria Muranga Governor
Ann Waiguru for Kirinyaga Governor
Among others.
Ali Hassan Joho Mbs Governor

Houghton Irungu the Oxfam Pan-fried Afric Director during happy times.
